Stephanie Lottermoser.
With six solo albums to her name, Stephanie Lottermoser has long since established herself as one of the defining voices of German jazz—versatile, independent, and full of charisma. Her music is more than just sound: it tells stories—about people, society, and what happens between the lines. Everything she writes, arranges, and produces is an expression of her very personal perspective. Her current album IN-DEPENDENCEin particular makes itclear how uncompromisingly she follows her own path—as a musician, songwriter, and producer. Here, her passion for soul jazz, groove, and improvised music merges with a clear artistic compass: cross-genre, style-conscious, and unique.
Whether on a club or festival stage, Stephanie manages to connect with her audience immediately. Her concerts feel accessible and intimate, even in front of thousands of people. She takes her audience on a musical journey that touches, surprises, and inspires. At the same time, she always stays true to herself: authentic, clear in her attitude, and independent of short-lived trends. Her path is characterized by musical depth and constant development—both artistically and personally.
A particular highlight: in 2022, she opened the main stage of the ELBJAZZ Festival in front of around 11,000 enthusiastic listeners. She has already performed internationally in England, France, Italy, and Switzerland, as well as in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, India, Morocco, Ghana, Kenya, and Côte d'Ivoire.
But Stephanie Lottermoser is much more than "just" a musician. As a presenter and producer, she creates the Jazz Moves Schnack podcast for the Jazz Moves Hamburg blog and hosts live events such as release shows and the Jazz Open Hamburg. She has also written the script for the German Jazz Award twice. She also passes on her passion for jazz as a lecturer—for example, at the Bavarian State Youth Jazz Orchestra, where she co-leads the Jazz Juniors Big Band, or as a guest lecturer at the Hamburg State Youth Jazz Orchestra. At the Hamburg University of Music and Theater, she advises the Jazz Institute in the area of awareness and communication, and at the Munich University of Music and Theater, she is a mentor in the Leading Creatives: Women in Music Leadership program.
Her social commitment is evident throughout her work: she is a spokesperson for KulturLeben Hamburg e.V., was part of the Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy jury, is involved in Jugend jazzt (Youth Jazz) and is a member of the FRAUEN100 network. She was also active on the board of Jazzbüro Hamburg for several years.
As a Yamaha Performing Artist, she plays exclusively Yamaha saxophones, is an endorser for Vandoren, and works(ed) with designers such as RIANNA & NINA, HEADREN, by Aylin Koenig, and Brogger. Brands such as Neumann Berlin, Yamaha Audio, Panasonic, Yamaha Pianos, and beyerdynamic are also among her partners.
With a clear artistic profile, musical depth, and an unmistakable style, Stephanie Lottermoser is now one of the most important jazz voices of her generation—consistent, courageous, and with an unerring sense of authenticity, connection, and vision.
